It's the Funkster in her Shanghai gear - a little cooler here in Shanghai
Well we decided to take a break from the internet at the week end hence no updates ...but here they are.
Saturday
We arrived in Shanghai on saturday and travelled very well .
This parent thing is a job in progress...a tip do NOT feed your child a banana to pacify her.... as the plane is leaving and the result is...well ...you know what I mean.!!!!
We did this and said that we will change her mid flight, only to be told that we were unable to leave our seats due to turbulence!!
We had a very understanding girl sitting beside us, who helped entertain Mia Xiaofei through her grizzling time.
We are all becoming very adept at changing nappies on the fly.
Mia Xiaofei only cries when she is tired needs a feed or needs her nappy changed....so we had about 15 mins of crying.
Lesson one, of many learned!!!
This was a very exhausting day.
Sunday
We visited Yuan Gardens and the ancent town to-day...if only we had a bit longer in the gardens to relax and chill .
The markets are mayhem and PACKED with people .
The hit with the coffee-a-holics was Starbucks. So a few people planted themselves there.
We also decided to get our fix of haggling with the stall owners.
We saved the princely sum 0f 30 dollars on two trinkets ...all good fun!
Monday
As the 'Boomtown Rats' say I hate Mondays .....well this Monday was to be the case.
Medical Day
No matter what anyone says NOTHING can prepare you for this.
You build up trust for a week then you have to restrain your child so as they can extract blood.
They numbed Mia's left arm and then proceeded to try and take blood but could not.
I have never or want to ever witness my daughter go through this again the screams from a helpless baby were unbearable.
They could not obtain blood from her left arm so came back again to obtain it in a moment from her right arm.
That was our week-end and Monday.
I will upload some great shots of Mia Xiaofei in Shanghai soon.
Just before we called it a night, we had a surprise visit from Aileen and Ella Berry from FCC who are on the Heritage Tour, if you wish to follow their journey follow this link (http://www.fccaustralia.blogspot.com/)
Mia had had her bath and massage and the timing was perfect prior to her going to bed.
It was really wonderful to see Aileen and Ella , we were playing the same lullaby music which she played to Ella prior to bedtime.
Well another day beckons and we will keep the installment update until we fly out on Friday.

Great to hear you arrived in Shanghai safely (apart from the nappy incident).
Thankfully Mia's medical is over and done with. I still have vivid memories of Tian's medical day - not nice.

Your daughter just gets cuter and cuter doesn't she!
Sorry the medical stuff was so awful. There really should be a better system in place for those gorgeous babies to have these tests. I still don't understand why they're necessary or at least why they can't be done in Australia.
Never mind, the worst is over and you can enjoy your beautiful again.

Poor Mia. One of the little girls in our batch was a "no bleeder" as well, it took the four nurses and hour (from 4 different spots) to eventually get a dribble. Heartbreaking for all involved.
Enjoy Shanghai! We LOVED Yu Gardens! (went back twice to get our souvenirs!) The TV tower is amazing too - we saw cloud - hopefully your view is a little better!
