Well we arrived safely on Friday afternoon and have spent the last two days getting organised for our Family Day or Mia's day ( when we meet Mia).
It feels like we have been climbing a steep mountain for 5 years and now someone has told us to climb on board a downhill roller coaster. Before we left Mark made contact with a local person (Tiffany) who took us on a trip to a school in the countryside of Nanchang. We left at 10.30am on Sat am and hightailed it out their in a cab. My God do they have any road rules here? I am glad before i left that i dosed up on my rescue remedy and did my yoga as the cab drivers were lunatics! They drove like crazy on whatever part of the road they could find which 90% of the time seemed to be the MIDDLE OF THE ROAD!! Crazy lunatics! I thought I was in a James Bond movie and being chased by the baddy. No more long cab rides for me.
The visit to the school was amazing and the teachers and children were so friendly. We had fun teaching the children English and they enjoyed showing us their culture. They were so kind to us and taught us how to do Chinese Calligraphy - not something I am proficient at as you need heaps of patience and focus and a steady hand and have a feel for the brush strokes. They also demonstrated how to play Chinese instruments. I think one was called a Zither (not sure of spelling!) and the other a Gourd flute. It was a fun morning.
I have included a picture of 4 of the 6 girls in our batch and also a picture of the children we met.
